In recent years, Society staff and volunteers have assisted hundreds of family genealogists, provided programming for community events, offered a Summer History Camp for children, created educational materials for regional teachers, and participated in numerous community events. In addition, the Society organizes the annual Living History Days Festival, Family History Walk and Dining in History event. All this, while also doing the work to preserve the artifacts, documents and photographs that tell Madison County's history. The Madison County Archival Library is open Mon.-Tues. by appointment, Wed-Fri. 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sun. 1-4 p.m. The library is a FamilySearch affiliate library which provides additional genealogical resources. MCHS is a 501(c)3 charitable organization without public funding, so it relies on membership and donor contributions to maintain an archival library and history museum.
