Leaders of the Lake Almanor Community met with Education leaders and parents to further explore issues brought up at the November 2019 Almanor Basin Community Consortium.Below are notes from this meeting on February 25, 2020
Parent Engagement
How to improve:
- Media specialist. Meeting Thurs. utilize her more
- Newsletter & or quarterly focus on parent or community, alumni, big events, past & upcoming events, decades, senior projects “the walk” Plumas, “graduation walk at CES”
- Chamber – w/w Chelsie for distribution
- Marquee on Main Street – partnership with community organizations (example Durham – check with Sara Sheridan)
- Parents who want to be here – share survey
- After school parent classes: math, computer, partnerships
- A lot of $ in Adult Education partnerships – can support getting families & community on our campus
- Use our schools for meetings
- Wellness Center Support
- M – F: 8:30 – 11:30, Friday Open Access, First come first served
- Partnering with HS students Th 11:30 – 12
- Big Brother/Big Sister lunch?
- Multiple older pop connect w/ service
- Seniors as Reading Buddies – share eligibility w/ Susan
- Community Service Organization made up of youth group
- Provide activities – all youth not client based
- Kicks off in May – collaboration w/ M. Health
- B. Health, P. Health, other organizations. App at this time
- Restorative Justice protocols incl. consequences, friends, most children mirror parental behaviors/choices
- Boys & Girls clubs – Alan check % worth looking into
- Boy and Girl Scouts
Declining Enrollment, Funding
- ISO – better job marketing, another alternative than traditional in the seat, communication
- Comm. Voc Ed & CTE offering
- Marketing our area & quality of life, what we have here our students can’t get in a larger school. Traci check fiber

- Our growing population is over 60
