November Monthly Membership Luncheon held

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Monthly Membership Luncheon was held on Tuesday, November 10 at Kokopelli. 

The speaker for the November Luncheon was Les O'Dell with the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce. Les spoke about the Shop Southern Illinois program. The Shop Southern Illinois program currently has 17 local area Chambers of Commerce participating in it. Local area residents can take a pledge online to shop locally for the holidays and by taking the pledge they have a chance to win prizes. The November Monthly Membership Luncheon was sponsored by The Night's Shield Children's Shelter. The Night's Shield Children's Shelter is a private non-profit organization that provides twenty-four hour emergency shelter for abused, neglected and/or abandoned children from the entire state. As a child care institution, licensed by the state of Illinois, they provide a secure, nurturing and home-like setting for their children. They hope to help reduce the current trauma the children are experiencing by providing them with support and nurturing.  A primary goal of The Night's Shield is to keep sibling groups together as often as possible.
