Wabash Area Development also know as WADI is a private not-for-profit Community Action Agency that was organized in 1965 by a group of concerned citizens in Wabash County.  In 1966 WADI expanded to include Edwards, Hamilton, Wayne and White Counties.  In 1981, Gallatin and Saline Counties were added. 

In Hamilton County WADI offers The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program which assists households with their heating & electric bills (must meet income guidelines). The Emergency Transitional Housing Program assists the homeless with food & shelter, case management, financial counseling and more (there are no income guidelines but funding is limited). Weatherization is an energy efficiency program aimed at reducing utility costs of income eligible households. The EF&S Homeless Prevention Program assists households who have had and unexpected crisis that has put them behind in rent. The Senior Nutrition Center provides nutritious meals for seniors along with home delivery for the homebound. Head Start/ Early Head Start provides service to pregnant mothers and children 5 and under. Emergency Food Pantry provides food once a month for income eligible households.
