The firm was founded in 1992 by James M. Copenhaver.  In 2008, Katie Howe McConnell joined the firm.  Upon Mr. Copenhaver’s retirement, Copenhaver & McConnell became McConnell Law. McConnell Law handles civil law matters throughout rural Nevada.

Katie Howe McConnell is a native of Elko, Nevada, and a graduate of Elko High School.  Ms. McConnell received a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where she was a Loyola Scholar.

Mrs. McConnell has been a member of the State Bar of Nevada since 2005 and is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the State of Nevada.

Mrs. McConnell is a past president of the Elko County Bar Association, on the Board of Directors for Northeastern Nevada CASA, a volunteer for The Boys and Girls Club of Elko, a State of Nevada Bar Exam grader and serves as an attorney coach to the Elko High School mock trial team.  Ms. McConnell is the President and Founder of Northeastern Nevada SAFE ( Special Advocates for the Elderly), a nonprofit providing advocates for elders in Guardianship Cases.
