AERO Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1957 under the Federal Credit Union Act as a non-profit organization, founded under the concept of ‘people helping people’. Originally sponsored by Sperry Phoenix Company (later becoming Sperry Flight Systems), employees pooled their money together to form Sperry Phoenix Employees Federal Credit Union, and then to Sperry Federal Credit Union (S.F.C.U.). Sperry Flight Systems merged with Burroughs Corporation becoming Unisys in 1986 and shortly thereafter, Unisys sold Sperry Flight Systems to Honeywell. To better align ourselves with our primary membership base, we changed from S.F.C.U. to Honeywell Aerospace Federal Credit Union (H.A.F.C.U.) in November 1999, and then to AERO Federal Credit Union (AERO) in April 2009.

The credit union’s business model is simple; members pool their money together to form various types of accounts (Regular Savings, Certificates, Money Market Accounts, etc.) becoming shareholders of the credit union.  As members take out and repay low cost loans, the interest received is used to pay dividends back to the shareholders. All earnings above expenses, reserves, and retained capital are returned the members. The more participation, the more our members reap and share those financial benefits.

AERO is now an expanded charter membership throughout the Phoenix, AZ and Albuquerque, NM metro areas. Check our website for membership eligibility at www.aerofed.net.

Our product focus is checking and savings, loans, home equity lines of credit, refinancing, credit cards, insurance products / coverage and financial planning. We also offer online and mobile banking, as well as a mobile app.
