Junior Achievement of Greater Miami

Organization Overview

The purpose of Junior Achievement, founded nationally in 1919 and incorporated locally in 1957, is to provide students with practical economic education and learning experiences. JA of Greater Miami brings the real world to over 43,796 students each year, opening their minds to their full potential by bridging the business and education communities.

Junior Achievement is guided by core values which include a belief in the boundless potential of young people, a commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship, and a conviction in the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning. This establishes the foundation upon which students can build the skills and aptitudes necessary to succeed in a fast-changing world. And, because they interact with positive adult role models, Junior Achievement students learn from individuals who bring the real world to them, opening their minds to their potential.

Volunteers

Volunteers from across the community support Junior Achievement by delivering programs to students in classrooms and business locations. Every year, more than 1,500 adults will volunteer their time and experience. They will visit classrooms and interact with students and educators, sharing business knowledge and real-life experiences that relate to the lessons of the program they are teaching. These volunteers, from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds, are valuable to the Junior Achievement mission because they bring a variety of experiences, backgrounds, and individual qualities to their dedication of time as positive role models for the students of this community.

Our Mission

We are empowering young people to own their economic success. Our volunteer-based K-12 programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire kids to dream big and reach their potential.

We invite you to take up the challenge with us.
