With offices at 100 Water Drive in O'Fallon, Missouri, Water District 2 has grown from a small, rural water district at its inception to the largest water district in the State of Missouri serving a population of about 75,000 people. Some of that growth is attributable to acquisitions of other utilities, but most of it comes from the addition of customers coming directly into our service area, now encompassing over 400 square miles. The service area includes the communities of Lake St. Louis, Defiance, New Melle, Augusta, Dardenne Prairie, Dutzow and parts of O'Fallon, Weldon Spring, Innsbrook, Wright City and unincorporated St. Charles and Warren Counties.
The Water District's water distribution system has a capacity of over 30 million gallons per day. Because of the tremendous growth of the District's service area, the Water District's Board of Directors commissioned a growth study and Water System Master Plan. The study, contracted with Horner & Shifrin, Inc., provides a roadmap for our water distribution system's growth over the next fifteen years. The Master Plan will plan numerous capital improvements to help assure the adequate storage and supply of water to its customers.
