In 1963, family members of individuals with disabilities came together to build a safe, accessible summer camp for their children. Since then, Courageous Community Services has continued to ensure that children, teenagers, and adults with disabilities have the opportunity to attend summer camp and experience that overwhelming feeling of community.
The camp, now known as Courageous Acres, serves children, teenagers, and adults of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and abilities. We’ve worked to create an engaging and inclusive community where individuals can learn new skills, make new friends, learn about the environment, and engage in fun activities. Our camps allow all children to grow and learn from each other, no matter their abilities.
Over the years, Courageous Community Services has proactively worked to upgrade our facilities, programs, and recreational activities. To date, we remain the only camp with a qualitative focus and commitment to providing comprehensive outdoor recreation for people with disabilities in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
