An organization dedicated to today's youth.
Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) focuses on a mission to raise awareness and meet the needs of homeless youth so they can stay in school and graduate. HYC’s goal is to provide homeless teens with host families, basic needs and services as they make positive, life-affirming choices toward becoming responsible, productive adults. Together with educators, government agencies, faith-based organizations, and compassionate community members and donors, HYC is helping to bring a positive future to this nearly forgotten population. All services are provided at no cost to the student, high school, school district or state.
Present Day:
Through referrals from school liaisons, HYC works with West Valley students to identify and overcome obstacles that might deter them from earning their high school diploma. Further assistance is provided to encourage students to enter college, a vocational program or the military.
Our Future:
HYC's future goal is to open a transitional living facility in the West Valley for homeless teens. Having met the most urgent need, safe and secure housing, HYC can then begin to provide nutritious meals, counseling and mentoring programs, life skills training and HOPE. Without hope, these kids could very well become tomorrow's statistics. The future of these students will sharply impact the future of our own community. Whether that impact is one of hope or one of desperation, it will depend on what we do today.
