Gunnison County Electric Assoc.
Home

Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) is a non-profit, member-owned rural electric cooperative proudly serving the Gunnison Valley since 1938. Founded by a group of local ranchers determined to bring reliable electricity to their communities, the cooperative energized its first power lines on December 6, 1941. Built on a legacy of cooperation and community commitment, GCEA continues to provide dependable electric service while supporting the growth and vitality of the region it serves.

As both customers and owners, GCEA members play an active role in the cooperative’s direction and success. This unique structure gives members important rights and responsibilities that differ from those of traditional investor-owned or municipal utilities. Guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles, GCEA remains dedicated to accountability, member participation, and delivering reliable, community-focused energy solutions.
