Pickard Park

Welcome to Pickard Park, located at 2205 E 2nd Ave, Indianola, IA 50125—a sprawling outdoor haven and the largest park in our system. Originally a farm, this picturesque landscape along the eastern edge of Indianola was acquired from the Clarence Pickard family in 1976. Steeped in history, the park showcases some of the first terraces and water diversion projects undertaken by the Soil Conservation Service in Warren County. Its unique features and rich legacy make it a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts and community gatherings alike.

As the eastern terminus of the McVay / Summerset Trail, Pickard Park offers not only scenic beauty but also a welcoming path for hiking, biking, and nature walks. Sporting enthusiasts can revel in a variety of events, from cross country meets to youth and adult softball tournaments. Notably, the park has gained acclaim for hosting nationally recognized disc golf tournaments, featuring top professional and amateur players in an annual National Tour. The park's shelter, boasting a scenic view of the Iowa countryside, serves as a comfortable and accommodating space for gatherings, with 10 picnic tables and seating for 80, complemented by 7 electrical outlets for added convenience.

At Pickard Park, we take pride in seamlessly blending the beauty of nature with the excitement of outdoor activities. Whether you're a sports enthusiast, nature lover, or community member seeking a serene escape, Pickard Park invites you to experience the best of Indianola within its expansive and historic grounds.
