Serving as the Vice Chair of the Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy, he focuses on supporting small businesses and fostering job growth in the region. A proud member of the California Problem Solvers Caucus, a bipartisan group dedicated to finding pragmatic solutions to the state's most pressing challenges, Josh Hoover is known for his collaborative and forward-thinking approach.
In addition to his committee roles, Assemblyman Hoover played a vital role in the Assembly Select Committee on Serving Students with Disabilities. Motivated by personal experience as the father of a child on the autism spectrum, he is deeply invested in the integration and success of students with special needs. In recognition of his advocacy for students, Josh Hoover was honored as Folsom's Young Professional of the Year in 2020.
Before his election to the Assembly, Josh Hoover served as a school board member in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD). His leadership was instrumental in reopening schools in the community, making FCUSD the first district in Sacramento County to resume in-person instruction. During his tenure, he actively worked to balance the budget, protect taxpayers, expand mental health services, support school police officers, and enhance student achievement.
Assemblyman Hoover is a distinguished alumnus of UCLA, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science and public policy. He furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree in public administration from USC. Residing in Folsom with his wife Nicole and their three children—Ayden, Addison, and Austin—Josh Hoover brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and a vision for a brighter future to his role as a representative of the 7th Assembly District.
