Du Quoin School District #300

Welcome to Du Quoin School District #300, a rural unit school district nestled in the heart of Du Quoin, Illinois, with a commitment to excellence in education. Established in 1968 through a referendum, our district has grown to serve approximately 1,400 students across 105.14 square miles, including the communities of Du Quoin, St. Johns, and Sunfield.

Our Heritage:

Our journey began with the consolidation of Du Quoin Township High School, Du Quoin City Elementary Schools, and surrounding elementary districts. Today, we are proud to operate three attendance centers, each designed to foster the academic and personal growth of our students.

Du Quoin Elementary School: Catering to grades K-4.

Du Quoin Middle School: Nurturing students in grades 5-8.

Du Quoin High School: A comprehensive educational hub for grades 9-12, also hosting Pre-K programs in collaboration with Southern Illinois University and Tri-County Special Education.

Modern Facilities for Inspired Learning:

Our commitment to providing a conducive learning environment is reflected in our modern facilities. The Du Quoin Elementary and Middle School are housed in a state-of-the-art 120,000-square-foot facility completed in 1999. The high school underwent a significant transformation in 2012, boasting updated classrooms, science labs, computer labs, a media center, administrative offices, and enhanced athletic facilities.

Diverse Educational Offerings:

We believe in a well-rounded curriculum that caters to the diverse needs of our students. From a comprehensive reading program to exploratory classes in fine arts, computers, and physical education, we ensure that every student receives tailored instruction. Our middle school offers a range of exploratory classes in art, music, computers, physical education, careers, and horticulture.

At the high school level, our curriculum is designed to prepare students for both college and career opportunities. Through collaborations with local community colleges, students gain access to college readiness experiences and dual credit courses. We also provide an entry-level health care/certified nursing assistant program, showcasing our commitment to addressing diverse career preparation needs.

Special Education and Support Services:

Du Quoin School District #300 is a proud member of the Tri-County Special Education Cooperative, serving special needs students in Perry, Jackson, and Union counties. Our district's social workers, counselors, speech therapists, and nursing staff are dedicated to meeting the unique learning, social, emotional, and health needs of every student.

Enriching Student Life:

We foster a vibrant student life with opportunities for involvement in clubs, and organizations, and a robust athletic program. From gifted education programs to honors and advanced courses, we aim to provide a holistic educational experience.

Join us at Du Quoin School District #300, where excellence meets opportunity, and every student's potential is nurtured for a bright future.
