South Okanagan Women In Need Society

The South Okanagan Women In Need Society (SOWINS) is a compassionate organization based in Penticton, BC, Canada. Since its founding in 1981, SOWINS has been dedicated to providing shelter, safety, and support to individuals affected by abuse in the South Okanagan region. Their services are offered to those who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing violence, covering a wide area from Summerland to Osoyoos and from Naramata to Keremeos.

As a Federally Registered Charity (#12998 7665 RR0001) and an Incorporated BC Society (#S-16224), SOWINS operates with utmost transparency and accountability. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of six to 10 community members, while an Executive Director oversees a team of 60+ staff members working across their three Penticton locations in the South Okanagan-Similkameen area.

SOWINS aims to create a society where individuals can make choices to live safe and healthy lives. Through collaborative partnerships with peer agencies, involvement in response and policy development committees, and educational outreach to the community, SOWINS actively works towards raising awareness about abuse and providing vital resources and support to those in need. Their unwavering commitment to empowering individuals and fostering a safer community reflects their vision for a brighter future for all those impacted by abuse.
