Known for its peaceful, safe neighborhoods, and independently owned service-oriented businesses, Youngtown is situated at the crossroads of Western Maricopa County on the eastern bank of the Agua Fria River between Peoria, Sun City, and El Mirage.
The progressive town of over 6,000 residents has long been known for its affordable housing, and a local government that is responsive to the needs of its citizens by using outside the paradigm thinking processes in order to solve the multitude of problems that a small town encounters, while at the same time retaining the atmosphere of a village-type homogeneous community.
The Town Council is dedicated to the highest ideals of honor, ethics, and integrity in all public and personal relationships and recognizes the chief function of local government is at all times to serve the best interests of all the people.
Youngtown has a Council-Manager form of government. The Council is comprised of six council-members and a mayor -all elected at large on a non-partisan ballot. The Mayor and Council serve four-year terms. Council-members serve staggered terms to ensure continuity.
