We accomplish this through 22 diverse and innovative employment and life-skills programs that foster confidence and opportunity for tens of thousands of individuals each year. The five audiences we serve include military veterans, seniors, youth, the financially disadvantaged, and the developmentally or physically challenged members of our community.
Discover Goodwill's life-changing programs include Possibilities, our innovative experiential learning program for individuals with developmental challenges. Using a 14,000 square-foot town center community, Possibilities recreates everyday living experiences while encouraging safe and unlimited learning. In this tactile environment participants not only develop new life-skills, they also build self-esteem and confidence by creating art, learning basic money-management and living skills, and even exercising in the Possibilities gym.
A significant portion of Discover Goodwill's programs and services is funded through your donations and patronage of our 11 retail centers. Discover Goodwill is a Platinum GuideStar participant and has a strong commitment to financial stewardship. We dedicate 89% of our annual budget to programs that directly impact lives in our community.
As a social enterprise, Discover Goodwill also generates revenue by contracting with businesses and government agencies to provide professional janitorial and commercial laundry services, document imaging, grounds maintenance and more. Proceeds are reinvested in the growth and development of our programs and services. At the heart of these business activities is our mission of helping individuals achieve greater financial and personal independence.
