For almost 20 years, Senior Sing A-long has been sharing the magic of music with seniors and veterans in long-term care communities…changing how they experience life. Reaching thousands of our aging neighbors with live concerts, music therapy, and individualized dementia services, right in the comfort and safety of their own living community, Senior Sing A-long brings excitement and inspiration back into their daily lives.
Senior Sing A-long was established in 2004 to serve low-income seniors, veterans, and others who are confined to a long-term care facility due to loss of mobility or health. The nonprofit maintains a focus on those living with the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia, offering on-site therapeutic, evidence-based, quality of life programming, including:
- Music Therapy: Facilitated by board-certified Music Therapists, small groups (or individuals) actively engage in creating music, playing instruments and more, to accomplish specific, therapeutic goals that ultimately contribute to each individual’s improved wellbeing and happiness.
- Life Enrichment: Individuals gather to enjoy the excitement and experience of live monthly concerts and performances by professional musicians and other performance artists, right in the comfort and safety of their own residence.
- Tuned In: Individuals with dementia come alive to the sounds of familiar music as they enjoy personalized playlists on an mp3 player. Senior Sing A-long supplies music players, headphones and playlists, customized for each participant.
