Welcome to the Harlan Community School District!

We are excited to have you join our school district. We are composed of several wonderful communities.   Harlan Schools educate students from Corley, Defiance, Earling, Harlan, Jacksonville, Panama, Portsmouth, and Westphalia. We have approximately 1,400 students PK-12 with an average of 100 students who open enroll from other school districts.  

I am beginning my second year as the superintendent.  As a district, we have dedicated teachers, staff, students, parents, and administrators.  We strive to be the best in the areas of academics, the arts, and athletics.  Harlan is a strong partner with Iowa Western Community College and offers many college credits for students, free of charge, to give them a head start on a 4-year college degree or to obtain a certificate for employment soon after graduation.
