Oakley Valley Arts Council, Inc. promotes and encourages the performing arts, and provides three local productions in the spring, summer, and fall along with a Christmas Concert giving people (youth and adults) in the valley and surrounding areas opportunities to participate in live performances.  Patrons from all over Southern Idaho and elsewhere have had the opportunity to experience the Historic 1907 Howells Opera House.  Oakley Valley Arts Council began as Oakley Valley Theater in 1974 and was then was reorganized with a name change in 1979 when it became incorporated. 

Howells Opera House is the home of Oakley Valley Arts Council.  The council continues to maintain and improve the property that is on the National Register of Historic Places know as Howells Opera House at 160 North Blaine Avenue in Oakley, Idaho.  All labor is a volunteer basis with the exception of janitorial services during rehearsals and productions.  The Board of Directors consist of fifteen people from area towns that serve on building, production, and publicity committees with many more volunteers that step in to help behind the scenes and on stage!
