1991: SGVEP was incorporated as the San Gabriel Valley Commerce and Cities Consortium
Three city managers from Alhambra, Monrovia, and West Covina recognized the need for a regional entity for the purpose of advocating, marketing, and expanding the economic base of the San Gabriel Valley. These city managers and several private sector business leaders came together to create the San Gabriel Valley Commerce and Cities Consortium to leverage the power of the region and to promote the valley.
1998: The name was changed to the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership to reflect the growing and broad membership including business, local government, colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations committed to the mission of advancing the economic vitality and quality of life of the San Gabriel Valley.
