Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter Celebrates 20 Years!

Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter was founded in 2005 by a small group of passionate animal lovers with a vision to improve the lives of homeless pets at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Twenty years later, the mission
remains, but the reach of Friends has grown exponentially, thanks to like-minded community members and business partners who have donated to our cause.

Here's a sample of how our generous donors made a difference in 2024:

 Leashes and collars with personalized tags provided for 2,579 adopted cats and dogs.
 Parasite prevention administered to 2,189 cats, 1,821 dogs, and 135 rabbits.
 Lifesaving and life-improving medical care performed on 46 pets suffering from injury, illness, or abuse.
 Dental care and pain relief provided for 47 pets with significant periodontal disease.
 Spaying and/or neutering surgeries and vaccinations performed on 622 community cats, markedly reducing pet overpopulation and disease.
