EPIC Policy Group to Represent Arizona Community Birth Coalition

Leading public policy firm to advocate for increased education, safety, accessibility and support for community birth.

Phoenix, AZ (April 3, 2024) – EPIC Policy Group, one of Arizona's top solutions-focused government affairs policy firms, today announced it will represent the Arizona Community Birth Coalition (ACBC) to help advance the organization's vision for transforming community-based birth experiences across the state of Arizona.

"We are honored to partner with the ACBC to give a powerful voice to their important mission," said Michael Infanzon, Managing Partner of EPIC Policy Group. "Their goals for educating consumers and providers, increasing safety protocols, improving accessibility, supporting maternal mental health, and enhancing postpartum care will help ensure all Arizona families can benefit from empowered, holistic birth experiences."

Founded in 2023, the ACBC is a non-profit coalition of midwives, birth advocates, and families committed to shaping policies and community resources for out-of-hospital birth settings like homes and freestanding birth centers. The ACBC's core pillars include:

Education: Providing comprehensive education to consumers, midwives, and community partners to facilitate shared understanding and goals.

Safety: Advocating for access to medications, equipment, and training to increase safety for community births.

Accessibility: Ensuring competent, affordable midwifery care regardless of demographic factors through improved insurance coverage.

Mental Health: Offering training to identify perinatal mood disorders and connecting families to supportive resources.

Postpartum Care: Extending midwifery postpartum care beyond single check-ups to fully support the fourth trimester.

"We strive to open more doors for thoughtful, family-centered policies," said Wendi Cleckner, President of the ACBC. "This will be invaluable as we collaborate with policymakers, healthcare providers, and communities statewide for the betterment of maternal care."

EPIC will leverage its robust capabilities in policy development, stakeholder engagement, communications, and advocacy campaigns to elevate the ACBC's priorities at the state legislature and in local communities.
