Legislative Forums Offer Opportunity to Hear Direct Legislators

The Carroll Chamber of Commerce Legislative Forums set for Spring 2018 offer area residents an opportunity to hear directly from local Legislators, Representative Brian Best and Senator Mark Segebart, about issues that affect them.

“The Chamber’s goal in hosting these Legislative Forums is to allow our locally elected officials an opportunity to share what’s going on at the statehouse, and give area residents an opportunity to listen and ask questions about topics that are important to them,” explains Shannon Landauer, Carroll Chamber Executive Director.

The Legislative Forums are held bi-weekly throughout the legislative session at locations throughout Carroll County. Each Forum kicks off with opening statements from the elected officials, two questions prepared in advance by the planning committee, and then the forum is opened up for questions and comments from attendees.

“The really great thing about these forums is that both Representative Best and Senator Segebart are very easy to talk to and relate these complex issues very easily back to our local communities,” adds Landauer. She expects topics of big discussion this year will be Medicaid and affordable healthcare, mental health, tax reform, and Highway 30 widening.

The schedule for the Chamber’s 2018 Legislative Forums is: Legislative Forums are open to the public and free to attend. Forums begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and are one-hour long. For more information, contact the Carroll Chamber of Commerce at (712) 792-4383.
