Nationally Recognized Talent Recruitment Strategist Coming to Carroll

With many area businesses looking to grow, expand and add staff in an economy with little to no unemployment, the Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC) has decided it’s time to take action.

“The CADC’s mission is to support Carroll County’s existing industry base and help those industries grow. Obviously, a key component to any organization’s growth is the availability of qualified individuals to fill necessary positions,” explains Shannon Landauer, Executive Director of the CADC. “From CADC’s perspective, the answer to filling local positions in a tight unemployment market is to grow the employee-base on a whole – not compete for the employees that already exist here.”

And that, according to Landauer, is the purpose of hiring Janet Ady, of Ady Advantage.

“Janet is a nationally known site selection and talent recruitment specialist who understands that one of the biggest struggles of any community is supporting their businesses by helping to retain, develop, and attract talent. For Carroll, Janet is being brought in to help us develop a long-term talent recruitment strategy that not only meets the needs of our local employers but also addresses Carroll’s desire to grow.”

Initially the CADC put together a talent strategy recruitment committee which met with Ady for the first time in a teleconference in July. At that time preliminary work was done regarding overall goals of the program and desired outcomes. Since then, the committee has been working on research and background information requested by Ady. On Tuesday, September 26, CADC partners will hear Ady discuss recruitment strategies, case studies and examples during their regular September business meeting at the Carrollton Inn. Following, the talent strategy recruitment committee will spend the afternoon with her talking specifically about Carroll’s labor pool, shortcomings, and strategies utilized to date in hiring and growing local businesses.

“When we’re onsite we will be leading a discussion on the areas CADC would like to focus; strategies you’ve deployed or are planning to deploy related to talent; gaps; and an approach for moving forward. We should end with a good idea of focus, potential strategies, existing programs and likely partners,” explains Ady.

Finally, mid-October, Ady will present a final talent recruitment strategy which can be used by the county as a whole to retain, develop and attract the necessary talent to fill open positions and allow area businesses to grow in the future.
