New webinar addresses overtime rule changes coming in December

JEFFERSON CITY – In May, the federal government announced drastic changes to the nation’s overtime rules. Now, employers have until December to make the needed changes — which may entail significant payroll cost increases.

To help businesses prepare, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry has released a new on-demand webinar. It’s available now. In this 25-minute webinar, labor law experts Randy Thompson and Anthony Grice with Husch Blackwell go in-depth about the new federal rules and give advice about what employers should be doing now to prepare.

The webinar is available on the Missouri Chamber’s website, www.mochamber.com, for $50. Members of the Missouri Chamber can view the webinar for $25. Webinar participants are also invited to join a question and answer conference call at 10 a.m. on August 23.

“There is a significant level of anxiety in the Missouri business community about the new overtime rules and the fast-approaching deadline for compliance,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “I’d like to thank the experts at Husch Blackwell for helping present this educational webinar for Missouri businesses. Any employer that’s not fully prepared for this change should take this opportunity to learn from these experts and begin working toward compliance right now.”

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the largest business association in Missouri. Together, with the Missouri Chamber Federation, the Missouri Chamber represents more than 50,000 employers.
