UPDATE: Paving at Mexico/Jungermann Moved to Overnight Hours on Tuesday, Daytime on Thursday

Asphalt paving on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, for the intersection project at Mexico Road and Jungermann Road will take place overnight, rather than during the day. The asphalt paving along Mexico Road will begin at 9 p.m. on Tuesday and is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20. During this overnight work, southbound and northbound traffic on Jungermann will not be able to cross at Mexico Road as paving will take place through the intersection. Detours will be posted at Hospital Drive for southbound traffic and Old Mill Parkway for northbound traffic during this time.

The move to overnight hours on Tuesday will allow most of the asphalt paving at Jungermann and Mexico to be done in one night, avoid high temperatures, and reduce disruption to traffic.

Paving will be completed for the intersection project on Thursday, July 20, weather permitting. Lanes on Jungermann Road approaching the intersection will be paved during daytime hours. Drivers can expect single-lane closures on Jungermann Road on Thursday.

Please use caution and drive slowly through the project area.

When asphalt paving and lane striping operations are complete at Mexico and Jungermann, drivers will be able to use new turn lanes that will help improve safety and reduce congestion at this busy intersection. The project provides for dual left turns from westbound Mexico to southbound Jungermann and dual left turns from northbound Jungermann to westbound Mexico. Plus, new right-turn lanes will be added from eastbound Mexico to southbound Jungermann and from southbound Jungermann to westbound Mexico. The project also will replace the existing traffic signals and provide ADA accessibility improvements.

The $1.2 million Mexico & Jungermann Intersection Improvements project is 80% funded through a St. Charles County Road Board grant. The entire project is expected to be complete within a month.
