Missouri Community News - U.S. Census Bureau unveils new interactive map, Census Explorer

The Census Explorer map is a new tool that enables users to easily discover a variety of changing economic trends on the state, county, or census tract level. The map comes in three different editions depending upon the data requested. The editions include:

Retail Edition: This map includes statistics on retail trade in America, including the growing online market. You can also find the number of business establishments, employment, and average annual payroll for every county in the U.S. for retail as a whole, online retailers, online auctions, and mail-order businesses.

People, Education and Income: This map allows users to choose from 11 demographic topics, including median household income, labor force participation, and degree of education attainment.

Commuting Edition: The commuting edition map presents data related to local commuting statistics, including what method of transportation people use to get to work and average commute time.

The data used for the Census Explorer tool is derived from the 1990 and 2000 Decennial Censuses and the 2008-2012 American Community Survey.
