Wasco County Historical Society invites the public to join them in the backyard of the 1850 Moody/Rorick House, 300 W. 13th St., The Dalles, 11:00 a.m., for the following program.  For their comfort, visitors may choose to bring a lawn chair or a blanket on which to sit.  Admission is free but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be available.  After the program, the House will be open for viewing the impressive Tedd Lovell Family Bicentennial Exhibit.

Join retired USFS NSA Mgr. JURGEN HESS, Wasco County Historical Society, and the public as Mr. Hess presents “Landscaping with Native Plants”.  His book on this topic will be available to purchase.  In addition to colorful images, the book contains recommendations for wildlife habitat, water conservation, and lawn alternatives as they relate to native plants.  
Following his 34 years with the US Forest Service, Mr. Hess is today an environmental planner focusing on restoration projects using native plants. He has taught classes on this topic, given national and international presentations, and is an award-winning photographer.
Additionally, he has served twice on the Columbia River Gorge Commission, is on the board of directors for Columbia Insight, belongs to the Friends of Mt. Adams, and is a member of the Society for Ecological Restoration.
