Fair Oaks Cemetery holds a free event the Saturday before Memorial Day each year to honor and remember our fallen soldiers. This event typically includes speeches from local dignitaries, a main speaker usually speaking on the main theme for the year, the laying of crosses and flags for over 2,000 veterans, and moments of silence. Community members gather to pay their respects, often featuring local musicians performing patriotic music. Refreshments of cookies and lemonade are served afterward. The event serves as a poignant reminder of sacrifice and patriotism, fostering a sense of community and reflection among attendees.
