Event Name:
The Phantom Tollbooth
Description
Beale Street Theater invites audiences on an unforgettable journey into the Land of Wisdom with its stage production of The Phantom Tollbooth, inspired by the beloved 1970s film by the same name. This enchanting adventure takes the stage February 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st. Follow Milo, a bored boy longing for excitement, as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through a mysterious tollbooth into a world filled with wonder, wordplay, and wit. Here are Milo’s adventures in the Land of Wisdom, where he’s forced to think about many new things. Along the way, he learns of the argument between King Azaz and his brother, the Mathmagician—an age-old disagreement over whether words or numbers matter more. Their feud has resulted in the tragic banishment of Princesses Sweet Rhyme and Pure Reason, whose absence has thrown the kingdom into confusion. Determined to restore balance, Milo is dispatched to rescue the princesses from the treacherous Land of Ignorance. Armed with the knowledge and skills he picks up on his journey—and aided by unforgettable companions—Milo faces challenges that test his perception, courage, and heart. Ultimately, he succeeds in rescuing the princesses, bringing harmony back to the realm. This charming production highlights the timeless themes of curiosity, imagination, and the joy of discovery—making it a perfect outing for families, schools, and fans of the classic story.
