Have you ever wanted to sip your morning coffee on the Porter House porch? Your chance is coming up! Learn about the museum's recent energy upgrades and solar installation at this month's energy breakfast. The talk will start on the Porter House porch with coffee and muffins. Board member Paul Cutting will speak to the nonprofit's decision making and fundraising process for these projects and lead a short tour. “We’ve been thinking about climate control for close to 30 years,” says Cutting. “It helps with the preservation of the artifacts. Until recently, air conditioning has been too expensive and would have required altering the historic building in intrusive ways.” The Porter House was built in 1867 and was home to naturalist Adelbert Field Porter. In 1980 it became its own nonprofit entity (more about the organization's history here). Whether you're a self-proclaimed history buff, clean energy nerd, or non-profit leader looking for creative ways to "go green", this month's breakfast promises to educate and inspire.
