Event Name:
Why morphine? Hospice of the Valley Top Doctor Explains
Description

Morphine — specifically, “why morphine?” — is the topic of a no-cost presentation Thursday, Sept. 26, at Hospice of the Valley’s West Clinical Office, 9435 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria.

Dr. Ned Stolzberg, the agency’s executive medical director, will explain why morphine still is the preferred drug to help patients safely achieve comfort. He will talk about hospice philosophy and approach to pain management; how morphine is used in hospice; and how it compares to other opioids. The presentation is open to the public, and lunch will be provided.

Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. The program runs from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Dr. Stolzberg is board-certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. Before joining Hospice of the Valley in 2007, he ran a private practice in Glendale for 20 years. He was chief of staff at Arrowhead Hospital (now Abrazo Arrowhead Campus)  for four years and continues to serve on its board of trustees.

Hospice of the Valley, Arizona’s leading provider of end-of-life care, is one of the oldest and largest not-for-profit hospices in the country, serving the community since 1997.
