Details:
. “Pop-Up” competitions around the state will make youth eligible to compete in the ICS World Championships competition on September 7-8 in Ankeny, IA this fall. The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Region 4 competition will be held on August 24, check-in at 7:30 AM, at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds, Decorah. Register in the competition to showcase your favorite chili recipe, and to learn more on how to cook creatively as we spice things up with family, friends and fun!
Youth ages 10-17 will prepare and cook their chili with adult supervision. There are four chili categories youth can enter their recipe into:
- Traditional Red Chili (no beans)
- Homestyle Chili (with beans)
- Chili Verde (made with green spices)
- Veggie Chili (made without meat)
Prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 and People’s Choice. Community members are welcome to taste test between 12:30 and 1:00 PM and vote for People’s Choice award. Winners will be announced at 1:00 PM.
