Plein Air Workshop with Soft Pastels
Description
When spring is in the air, it is the perfect time of year for getting outdoors and painting on location. Students of all levels of experience are welcome to enjoy the fun of plein air painting using the vibrant colors of soft pastels to create dramatic and expressive paintings. Learn how to make water look wet and reflective. Paint the feeling of atmosphere in skies and clouds. Learn how to put variation in the multitude of greens in a landscape. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of plein air painting and how working from life can improve their work. Maria will present a demonstration and offer lots of personal attention. There will be lots of painting time and comradery with other artists.

The class will meet at the Allure Art Center and then go to the designated painting site.
This Landscape painting workshop using soft pastels by Maria Reardon will be spent painting on location in White Stone VA. This class is designed around using soft pastels and no other medium.
Several topics will be covered…the importance of how to start a painting , gathering essential information and editing in the field in order to create a finished painting while on location or for use for studio paintings. Exercises will be used to help simplify the painting process and to establish design, drawing, values and color.

Students should come prepared with supplies for possibly doing a couple of paintings. Maria will create a demonstration painting and work with students individually on their paintings throughout the day.

Cost is $95 per person (does not include materials)
