Hearthstone Gardens is a non profit botanical garden in North Florida, dedicated to preserving the natural environment and showcasing Florida Friendly and native plants that help sustain wildlife, this 35 acre, 3 ponds, cypress/slash pine woods and open fields is a sanctuary within our unique North Florida environment.
Event Schedule
8 am Bird ID walk with Valerie Thomas
Take a walk down the trails with guide Valerie Thomas to explore the various natural habitats. Look, Listen, and Identify the different birds that call the gardens home. Bring your binoculars and cameras.
Valerie is past president and longtime member of the Four Rivers Audubon Society, with a wealth of knowledge on our native and migrant birds.
9:30 am Plant Id Scavenger Hunt
Decipher the clues and devise a plan to find the different plants that grace the garden. This team lead hunt will teach and test your identification skills. The first team to finish wins a nice prize.
11 am Animal Safari with Jerry Walls
Amazing Animals of Lake City/Live Oak will present “Scales & Tails, Reptiles from Around The World” Several live reptiles will be on exhibit. Learn the true facts about these fascinating yet often misunderstood animals.
