The Happy Hour Book Group will meet at Rubaiyat on Wed. April 10th at 5:15 p.m. to discuss Richard Powers’ “The Overstory.” National Book Award winner Richard Powers delivers a novel of activism and resistance which unfolds in fables ranging from antebellum New York to the late twentieth-century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest, exploring the essential conflict on this planet: the one between humans and nonhumans. This is the story of nine strangers who are brought together in a last stand to save the continent’s few remaining acres of virgin forest.
