Details:
Luther College Piano Quartet, now in its 11th year, is comprised of four Luther music faculty; Miko Kominami, piano; Igor Kalnin, violin; Spencer Martin, viola; and Philip Borter, cello.

The repertoire for this program features two multi-movement chamber pieces: Dvorak's Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 87 and Schubert's Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667 "Trout" with Luther faculty bassist Andrea Beckendorf. Luther faculty member, Andrew Whitfield, baritone, will also perform the vocal setting of the Schubert song upon which the fourth movement of the piano quintet is based.

The concert is part of the second annual Dorian Chamber Music Invitational, an intensive two-day chamber music festival for high school string players who are selected by competitive audition to be coached by Luther College string faculty in chamber music ensembles.
