Thursday, May 16 - Weeding, Washing, Milking, and Plowing: Growing Up on a Midwestern Farm, 1870 - 1920. Jacob Riis documented the lives of urban poor children – but what about kids in the country? Pamela Riney-Kehrberg, professor at Iowa State, will share the similarities and differences. This program is presented in association with the exhibition "Jacob Riis: How the Other Half Lives." The exhibition is supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, with additional support from the Danish Home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
Thursday, May 23 - A Life on the Edge: The Colorful and Dramatic Life of Chris Madsen. Frans Ørsted Andersen is an associate professor at Aarhus University and recently published a biography of Danish immigrant, con man, and U.S. marshal Chris Madsen.
Program begins at 12 noon and is FREE to the public. Bring your own lunch - we'll provide the coffee.
Thursday, June 20 - Prairie Photography. Randy Leete lives next door to the Jens Jensen Prairie Landscape Park and will share his tips on capturing the beauty of the prairie in photos.
