Details:
In keeping with the spirit of the City of Haines City’s Placemaking WINGS Project, the City encourages
emerging artists to apply for this Art in Public Places artist competition. Additionally, the City accepts
artists of all professional levels and will provide marketing opportunities to all chosen for this first-time
arts event.

Participating artists will be encouraged to provide ten pieces of art to be displayed in public at the
business gallery hosting your creation; these locations will become “Pop-Up Gallery” locations
All applications must be submitted online at JaneWaters@HainesCity.com and meet the following
requirements:

• .jpg format (no slides or original artwork accepted)
• No identification of the artist in the images
• Each image is to be of one piece only
• Artwork MUST have been created within the past two years

SELECTION:

WINGS is a juried mural and art project. All artwork must be original. Works produced from commercial
or copied from posters, commercial photographs, magazines, books, albums, or any copyright images
will be disqualified, including fan art. It is the responsibility of each artist to use discretion in this regard.
All artwork displayed in public places for the WINGS Project must be family friendly.

Eligible artists will be chosen by a jury consisting of art professionals and will be based on originality, the
appearance of the artist's voice, visual impact, and quality for inclusion in the project. Optional feedback
will be available after the adjudication process for those who are not chosen. Accepted artists will be
notified by November 30, 2018.

NOTE: Final draft of planned public art must be approved by city staff on or before December 7, 2018;
before installation/painting
