In 2017 a vision was born out of memories from decades old country Christmas celebrations. A vision that would transport our community and our neighboring friends and communities, to relive our Country Christmas traditions. Family, friends, neighbors all gathering together to celebrate the Christmas holiday season. The excitement builds in preparation to light and decorate our little town for all to enjoy. From the youngest of children to our beloved pioneering families, this is a time when we travel back to when life was simple. At any moment you may see and hear small groups of Christmas Carolers walking through the streets singing and bringing cheer. Our local businesses dress up their storefronts with the beautiful lights and decorations of Christmas. It’s never far away, where you can find a cup of hot chocolate or warm apple cider.  The smells, sights and sounds of Christmas are all around us. It’s almost time for the Christmas Parade of Lights now. Families, Businesses, schools, clubs and groups start gathering together to build their floats. The bands polish their instruments and press their uniforms. The church choirs prepare to warm our hearts with their beautiful voices. The horses, mules and animals are brushed and decked out. The ranchers and farmers light up their vintage tractors and trucks. A multitude of community members and children dress in Country Christmas fashion to proudly walk in the parade handing out candy to all. I can absolutely tell you this. If you want to feel like a kid again, and relive a time your grandparents did, celebrating and enjoying a good old fashioned Country Christmas and one that many thought was long forgotten, you will find it here in Calhan Colorado, proudly with values and tradition every year.

The 2018 Calhan Christmas Parade of Lights will be held on December 15 th. beginning at 7pm. There is no fee to enjoy a great Old Fashioned Small town Christmas Parade. The day in Calhan is filled with multiple events to celebrate the Christmas season. Bring the Family and Friends out to enjoy Christmas tiding from 50 years ago. Links:
