Event Name:
Garden Day 2018
Description
Fairfield Public Library will host a free Garden Day event on Tuesday, April 24, from 5:30-7:30pm.  Meet Iowa’s Honey Queen, Joy Westercamp, who will bring beekeeping equipment and know-how.  Learn from 15 local gardening experts, including Roy Eubanks, who will show everyone how to keep pesky critters away from a garden harvest.   Explore seed saving with Master Gardeners, and visit the Rain Barrels booth manned by employees from the Wastewater Treatment plant.  Peer through microscopes at Faith Reeve’s “living soils” station, and pick up shade gardening tips from Julie Johnston.   Cider Works promises to share what they know about growing apple trees and making delicious apple juice.  Additional topics will include no-till gardening, making bread from homegrown wheat, indoor hydroponics, food carving, pickling techniques, and grape growing.

Attendees will be presented with a “passport” as they enter the library.  Booths can be visited in any order, and each presenter will stamp the passport.  Completed passports can be delivered to the front desk, where they will be entered into a drawing for garden-related prizes.
