Event Name:
Theater Gallery MAY ARTIST RECEPTION/Show
Description
During the month of May, The Theater Gallery proudly presents the eclectic artwork of DOUG  SOUZA. The exhibit will be in the Black Box portion of the Sutter Theater, currently undergoing renovation. Come in and take a peek of what it will look like. Be sure to attend our hosted Artist Reception on Thursday, May 3, from 5 - 7 pm with complimentary refreshments. Admission to our gallery is always free, and we are located at 756 Plumas Street, Yuba City, next to the Sutter Theater. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 12 - 5 pm.

Artist DOUG  SOUZA hails from Woodland, California, and now lives in the Yuba-Sutter area. Growing up on a dairy farm, surrounded by nature and animals, he enjoyed drawing and painting these images as a young boy. When he was eleven, he won an art contest sponsored by a local newspaper. This gave him encouragement to pursue all forms of visual art, watercolor and oil paintings as well as photography and giclee prints. Doug is something of a baseball buff, and remembers selling his first painting to the wife of Willie Mays back in 1965. In 2010 he was the guest artist at the Westminster Dog Show in New York City. His realistic artwork is very fine-tuned, as exemplified in his drawings and paintings of wildlife, birds, and animals. Antique motorcycles are his passion and he has many images of these. Doug has an unique business venture: Souza’s Mobile Picture Framing. He comes to you, takes a photo of what you want framed, uses his software to choose an appropriate frame you like, and shows you an image of what it will look like. Then he’ll frame it and deliver it to your house.
Wow! That’s a great service! Don’t miss his one of a kind show in May!

The Theater Gallery is open every week, Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. Come in and enter the drawing to win a jewelry piece each month. An Artist Reception is held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm usually on the first Thursday of every month, complete with complimentary refreshments. Proceeds from The Theater Gallery benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater, turning it into a viable community center.  For more information, please visit our website at:  www.suttertheater.org or follow The Theater Gallery on Facebook.
