Earth Day at the Eco Barn

Southeast Iowa Sierra Club and the Sustainable Living Coalition invite the public to a free and friendly Earth Day celebration, Sunday April 22, 2-4 p.m. at the newly renovated Eco Barn -- just south of the Abundance EcoVillage off 185th Street. Activities for all members of the family include: children's outdoor games, a spring gardening workshop, a butterfly workshop (with a limited number of free milkweed seedlings), workshop for international quilt project, walking,
and guided tours of the EcoVillage.

Everyone is invited to this earthday party - free, no admission fee. There will be ongoing live music and vendors selling plants and earth-friendly products. Schedule:

*Quilts: Born from her involvement with refugees in Greece, Quilts That Unite Us is Stacey Hurlin's artistic project that gives expression to people around the world as “a visual descriptive narrative of our individual uniqueness as well as our collective creative moral fiber.” To date, the collection of painted squares numbers is an impressive 785 pieces, representing more than 74 countries. As word has spread, literally across continents, art squares are being shipped to Stacey. Painting our universal art canvas is expanding. The project continues to take on “greater wholeness” as the squares are sorted by common themes. In keeping with the international emphasis, quilts are completed by quilters around the world. There will be at least 40 quilts in the completed collection. The quilts begin a preview tour in Fall 2018 A full two-year USA tour begins in 2019. Links:
