As a community leader in emergency preparedness, prevention and response, the American Red Cross honors individuals and organizations whose extraordinary acts of courage and kindness make them real heroes. In the past decade, awards have been presented to children, adults, organizations, and civic groups.
An American Red Cross Hometown Hero is an individual who exhibits collaborative, creative or extraordinary heroism promoting or benefitting our community. They courageously and selflessly respond to an unusual, significant, or unexpected crisis and/or create lasting change in the lives of others.
Award winners must be willing attend the Hometown Heroes Recognition Supper on March 22, 2018. In addition, winners must be willing to participate in interviews and photographs for media and promotional reasons.
