Who We Are And What We Do

We began life in 2007 as the Benson Arts Commission.  To take a broader roll in the arts community by expanding beyond Benson city limits, the San Pedro River Arts Council was established in the fall of 2009, and incorporated in Arizona as a nonprofit.

Our Vision is… to create and support an environment in which visual artists have opportunities to learn, experiment and exhibit.

 Our Mission is…

Support art education in our schools.
Foster the growth and development of artists.
Provide opportunities to display artistic achievement.
Work with other organizations to strengthen the impact of the Arts Council on the community and artists.

 Our major Programs include…

Celebrate the Arts! consists of two month long judged exhibitions and sale at Cochise College, Benson Center.  In March of each year the exhibition is of visual arts excluding photography.  There is an annual Photography exhibition and sale in October.  An awards reception in held to recognize the outstanding artists and photographers.

Monthly individual artist exhibits and sale are held at Cochise College, Benson Center.  These exhibits are not judged.  They provide opportunity for member artists to place their work in a public venue, becoming better known as well as an opportunity to sell their work.  These month long shows are called “One With Art.”

We have great working relationships with other art organizations in the area such as Willcox, Sierra Vista, Douglas and Safford.

Come and visit the newly installed Art in our gallery and browse our beautiful gift shop.  We are located on the SW corner of 4th and San Pedro.  Entrance is on San Pedro Street.
