Home

Indiana Area School District is located in the county seat of Indiana County and encompasses 82 square miles. The district serves more than 2,700 students from Indiana and Shelocta Boroughs and the surrounding White and Armstrong Townships respectively. The district has provided quality, student-centered education for over 170 years. District facilities consist of two PreK-3 elementary schools, two 4-5 elementary schools, one 6-8 junior high, and one 9-12 senior high school.

Indiana, Pennsylvania is situated sixty miles northeast of the city of Pittsburgh. Indiana area residents enjoy the best of both worlds the benefits of proximity to a major city, as well as the lifestyle and sense of community afforded by a smaller town. The total population of the district is approximately 32,000.

Indiana is also home to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), the second-largest university in the State System of Higher Education. More than 15,000 students are enrolled in IUPs undergraduate and graduate programs. IUP is the areas largest employer and its presence in the community offers access to many educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities exclusive to a university town.
