Monica Cohen is a professional artist who has resided in the village of Ellenville for over thirty years. She was born in Coquimbo, Chile and began studying design in her late teens. She studied at the University of Chile in Santiago and later continued her education in the United States studying computer graphic design and traditional oil painting. Monica currently specializes in producing private artwork for homes as well as commercial and corporate commissions.

She works in pen and ink, acrylics, pastels, chalk, and oil paints, and has experience ranging from illustrating small postcards to painting large backdrops and murals.

Previously a graphic designer, Monica can also design logos and has experience teaching art classes in drawing and painting. Monica has a long history of artistic contribution to the community, with over thirteen years designing and painting props and backdrops for theater productions in the Ellenville School District; teaching arts and crafts for the Advantage After-School Program, working as the Art Director for multiple summer camps, and three years curating the Art at the Hunt exhibition at the Hunt Memorial Building during the annual Blueberry Festival. She has exhibited in solo shows at the Ellenville Public Library, Ellenville Regional Hospital, and Aroma.
