HISTORY OF THE COUNCIL

Office 1Incorporated in 1993, the Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council is the Arizona based affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). In October 2013 our geographic reach expanded. We now cover the State of Arizona as well as San Diego County.

Our organization is comprised of most of America’s publicly owned companies as well as health care institutions, universities and municipalities. We bring value to our members by identifying capable, qualified MBEs that we certify by validating the firms are at least 51% ethnic minority owned, operated and controlled. After a minority business becomes certified we then connect them to our corporate members’ procurement opportunities. Corporate purchases from NMSDC certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) exceeded $125 billion in 2014. We also help develop MBE capabilities and advocate on their behalf. Along with certification we promote and increase business opportunities for MBEs of all sizes and provide resources for business growth.

We produce various events that benefit our Corporate Members and minority businesses. Our four signature events include the Awards Gala, Business Summit, Golf Tournament and Holiday Reception.

Our Procurement Connection Series serves to help connect our MBEs with corporate member procurement opportunities and representatives as well as develop capabilities of our constituents.

The NMSDC is the premier minority certifying entity in the nation. We offer the most widely accepted minority certification by Corporate America with 12,000 MBEs in our network, 460 national corporate members & over 1,300 local members. Our Council certified MBEs are impactful! They produce $10 billion in gross revenue; employ over 32,000 individuals & 38% possess a national or international footprint.
