Nu Hope Elder Care Services

NU-HOPE Elder Care Services, Inc. (NU-HOPE) is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  We have been providing services to the frail elders in Highlands County since 1975.

NU-HOPE’s mission is to promote the physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing of seniors.  Our main goals are to preserve the health, dignity and independence of seniors and to prevent premature or unnecessary placements in nursing homes.

Services provided by NU-HOPE include home delivered and congregate meal assistance, help with bathing and personal care, homemaking, transportation, consumable medical supplies, case management, respite services, caregiver stipends and reimbursements, and other forms of client and caregiver support.

Much of our success comes from our ability to address the comprehensive needs of seniors, rather than focusing on a single service.

To fund the many services provided by NU-HOPE, the agency relies of a variety of local, state, and federal grants, as well as funds raised through our Thrift Stores, community donations, and special events.  These funds subsidize the cost of services, allowing seniors to receive the assistance they need in an affordable manner.
In October 2005, the NU-HOPE of Highlands County, Inc. board of directors voted unanimously to change the name of the organization to NU-HOPE Elder Care Services, Inc., in order to better align the name with the mission of the organization. In 2008, NU-HOPE Elder Care Services, Inc. expanded its service coverage area into Hardee County in order to fill the gap left when the existing agency ceased operations.
